Mokomba Ensemble

Mokomba is a local performance group presenting traditional and contemporary works of African drum and dance from countries across the continent. Choreography and arrangements by Adjei Abankwah, former member of the Ghana National Dance Ensemble and director of the BaoBao Festival and Malang Diatta, Senegal, former member of Ballet d’Afrique Noire that toured extensively in Europe and the United States. Members of Mokomba enjoy its diversity and feel as though each individual brings a unique experience and perspective to the group. Performances are a lively and energetic collection of music, song and dance framed in colorful costuming and give audiences a glimpse into the heart of culture and community of African dance.
